It is with great sadness that we have learned of the death of Tom Jardine. Tom passed away peacefully aged 93 on 4 January at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary having taken unwell at home on 2 January.

Tom is a past president and stalwart of his beloved Preston Lodge RFC and was honoured last year by the club who named their newly refurbished lounge after him. But Tom was also loved and respected across the whole of East Lothian and beyond. And particularly here at MRFC where he was a regular visitor and of course, father of our President Brian Jardine.
Tom’s legacy to both clubs will forever be marked through the annual Jardine Cup fixture, which Tom particularly enjoying seeing PL win in 2022. Tom was a true gentleman with a convivial nature around both the pitch and the clubhouse, embodying the spirit and values of our great game.

A life well lived by a man who will long be fondly remembered by all. We offer our deepest condolences to the Jardine family and to our friends at PL RFC. Well played Tom and rest in peace.
Tom's committal ceremony will be held on Tuesday 23rd January at 12.00 noon at Mortonhall Crematorium and thereafter at Preston Lodge RFC, to which all are welcome.
