INTERVIEW: Robert Stott

The latest in our end of season interviews, today with forward Robert Stott.

Q: It was the first time Musselburgh were playing top flight rugby in 33 years, did you feel any pressure to make an impact and what were your expectations for the season?

"Never felt any added pressure as we had nothing to lose as we were underdogs going into the season. I expected a hard season but i knew we were capable of staying up."

Q: Looking back to the first game of the season against Glasgow Hawks in the Scottish Cup, how confident were you of a win and getting the season off to the right start?

"The boys had a good preseason and were ready to take the jump to premiership level, so I was confident."

Q: The first half of the season had some ups and downs, where do you think the turning point was in the season?

"Edinburgh Accies in the 2nd round of the cup, we never got the result but was a good performance."

Q: What was your favourite game this season and why?

"Glasgow Hawks away in the league as that’s where we got our first win in the league and from a personal point i got on the score sheet."

Q: Did you have any other favourite moments off the pitch this season?

"Every week after a game is good fun with the boys. So it's hard to pick out one moment."

Q: The outbreak of COVID-19 unfortunately caused the season to be null and void. What were your initial feelings after hearing this decision?

"I’m glad we stayed up but would of been better if the league had been finished."

Q: Knowing we will be definitely playing Premiership rugby again next year, what are your expectations for next season and what do you think will be different?

"We now know what level to expect so we can hit the ground running when next season kicks off. When ever that is."
